So I just spent a lot of money on video gear and assorted accessories. It’s not all here yet, but it will be soon.
Current Camera
Canon PowerShot SX610:
I’m currently shooting my videos with, believe it or not, a Canon PowerShot SX610. I run some image cleanup software in post production, and I get OK results. Actually, you’re the judge of that.
I also have a PowerShot 510 (if memory serves) that I sometimes use for simultaneous overhead shots. But not very often, at least, not recently.
New Camera
Panasonic Lumix G85:
I decided on a Panasonic Lumix G85 for a couple of reasons. The biggest being I wanted a mirrorless camera with 5-Axis Image Stabilization, for not too outrageous a price.
And it needed to come with a half-way decent lens, since I don’t have any lenses. In fact, this will be my first foray into the world of non-point-and-shoot cameras. Wish me luck.
[EDIT:] I just remembered that a zillion years ago I had an SLR film camera. Wonder whatever happened to it? In any case, I didn’t really learn how to use it properly.
Accessories
Powerextra 2 Pack Battery and Charger:
Pixel Wired Shutter Release Remote Control:
Medium Soft Padded Camera Equipment Bag:
Teleprompter and iPad
I got tired of forgetting my lines when I talked to the camera, so I bought a teleprompter.
Glide Gear TMP100 Teleprompter:
Which means I needed to replace my dead iPad, which I had fixed more than once but had finally bit the dust.
32GB iPad:
And yes, only 32GB. I have a 64GB iPhone for everything else.
And last but not and least:
Because I’d like to be able to view the iPad hands-free in the workshop…
Gooseneck Tablet Holder:
At the moment I don’t intend on using it when I’m producing sawdust. If that changes, I’ll either get a case, or just put a towel over it.
One possible future purchase:
It’s possible that I’ll want an external monitor for the camera. It has a flip-out screen, but it’s only 3 inches so I might need a bigger one. <Insert joke here>
If you never hear from me again…
…you’ll know I’m stuck in the land of “How the 🤬 does this thing work?!?!” And “I think I know why the call it an f-stop!”
I shutter to think about it. But at least you get the picture. I wonder if the camera’s auto-focus will help my ADD?
